D-30: The Sony D-30 is the workhorse in the family. With Betacam still a viable format for production, the D-30 with the PVV-3 back is still the camera to use. Yes, the D-30 is a dockable camera. With the DSR-1 back it becomes the Sony DSR-130, A D-30 with a DVCam back. It is capable of recording DVCam mini, full size DVCam or mini-DV tape stock. We have two of these wonderful cameras. DVX-100A: Panasonic’s DVX-100A is a mini DV format camera that packs tons of features. Shoot in 16x9, 24p, adjust gamma, and have 7 different scene files at your fingertips. This camera is capable of producing very film-like images on standard definition video. HVX-200: Panasonic’s HVX-200 is our first venture into the world of tape less recording. This camera uses solid-state P2 cards to record in either 720p or 1080i. The camera can record in Mini DV, but the idea is to record in the highest bit rate possible, hence P2. You get variable frame rates, 16x9 or 4x3, advanced gamma functions and 8 gamma settings, focus assist, plus many more features. The future is here now.
