STEADICAM

The Oscar winning Steadicam had been an essential production tool in thousands of film and television programs. Designed to help record extremely steady and smooth images. Steadicam permits an infinite variety of moving, walking, running, or at a standstill shots. The camera moves with the operator, as if it were an extension of his or her body, automatically adjusting and correcting for body motions. That means the camera and operator are free to move without restrictions-recording shots previously considered impossible. Scenes can be captured with a sense of fluidity and realism in sweeping continuous takes!

At Braband Film and Video we use three models of Steadicam to get the shot. Lets start with the smallest and move up.

  • Steadicam Merlin: simply the best prosumer camera stabilizer in the world today. It will hold cameras up to 5.5 lbs.

  • Steadicam Flyer: this is a real gem in the Steadicam line-up. It has been a proven success for us. It compliments the DVX-100a and the HVX- 200 in our stable. Smaller productions now have a choice to achieve a bigger “look” because of the Flyer.

  • Steadicam Master Series EDTV: The big guy. This system is designed to handle either video or film cameras that weight 20 to 45 lbs.

  • India vehicle mount: Steadicams can be mounted to vehicles. Here at Braband Film and Video we use the “India Mount”. We are the only production company on the west coast to use this wonderful mount. It allows the Steadicam to move 180 degrees around the back of the vehicle at speeds of up to 30 mph.

A unique relationship with Tiffen allows Braband Film and Video to sell the Merlin and Flyer models to the public and clients. Feel free to call us on how to purchase these models and any accessories. Please see the Tiffen link to get further details about the Merlin and Flyer.
